Ok so John Howe and Alan Lee have been my heroes ever since I got into Tolkein at the age of about 5. Their artistic styles are very different (or used to be; since they’ve been working together their styles have converged somewhat) and yet they both have the power and mystery that absolutely transports me into the wild blue yonder. Their art is the main reason that the LOTR films were so visually stunning and I have their art all over my house. So seeing them both at the Hobbit Premiere and getting them to sign my sword was just…incredible. Mindblowing. They were both so polite, friendly and genuine and I just…wow.

Wow, lucky you!

Empty London by Ian Mansfield.

Mansfield got up early on Christmas morning this year and photographed a nearly empty London - probably the one day per year the city is so quiet and unoccupied.

I spent an hour on this. All tracks played on my violin, five different tracks (solo, soprano, alto, tenor, bass), used and partially transposed the a capella version (which can be found here).

AMAZING

Reblogging after only hearing TEN SECONDS because I could tell this was amazing.
