Witchcraft indeed. In 1959, this LP introduced listeners to the avantest of piano trio gardes. Scott LaFaro’s bass plays an exciting and exploratory role in the group’s initial trio recording, breaking the previous mold by improvising extensively with his bass, becoming a second soloist alongside Evans, who coincidentally plays his ass off on this track.
